Good morning, and welcome to Teaser Tuesdays, hosted by Should Be Reading. This event allows us to spotlight excerpts from our current reads.
Here’s how it works:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Today I’m excerpting from a book that’s been on my stacks for a long, long time. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a delightful read. Just that I tend to buy ‘way more books than I can devour in any kind of reliable pattern. It’s a long story….
The New Yorkers, by Cathleen Schine, is a tale about people who live in an Upper West Side neighborhood who meet and become connected through their dogs.
Here’s my teaser:
Back in the high-rise she would have to move out of, Polly, undressed and ready for bed, sat in the living room and looked out at the faint sparkle of city lights penetrating the gray of the storm. The apartment was on the twentieth floor and she could see the Empire State Building, its spire red and shedding a glow as rosy as the dawn. p.42.
Isn’t that a wonderful passage? I love it and can’t wait to learn more about the story.
What did you find this week? I hope you’ll stop by and share some comments and links.
Thanks for stopping by and the nice comments re my blog..!!!

You’re welcome, Celtic Lady…I should tell you that I LOVE all things Irish, even though I’ve only visited vicariously through my son, who lived there awhile. He’s a photographer and has gifted me with lovely scenes which I’ve hung in my boudoir (which I call my Ireland room!).
Thanks for stopping by.

Ok you have to let me know… am I hallucinating or have you changed the header at the top? LOL I don’t know whether all the blogs I visit are blurring together but I swear your header was different last week. 🙂 I like this one
Come by and see the Teaser I chose

Oh, Bookish Snob, to put you out of your misery…Yes, you are hallucinating…No! Just kidding. I do change my headers a lot, especially on this site. I often change themes, too. I get bored.
I’ve noticed other blogs with big changeovers too, from one visit to the next. It is a bit disconcerting. But I am glad you like it. Here I will usually be doing something with Mary Engelbreit stuff as my headers.
Oh, and thanks for stopping by to check out my teaser!

Sounds like an interesting book, but I must say–I don’t think I could ever live in a high-rise. I hate being in hotels that are that high!

Oh, yes, Heather….I don’t like the idea of wondering what I would do in the case of fire! It’s great to visit a place like that, but I don’t think I’d want to live in one either. Thanks for stopping by.
