Yesterday, after I had spent the past couple of days with two of my grandkids, with one of them sleeping over, I felt exhausted. But then I went to my daughter’s salon for a new styling experience, and I felt totally renewed.
She gave me some lighter highlights, which made my whole being feel new.
Naturally I turned my attention to some things that had been bugging me. Like the overwhelming book stacks in my office. Many of them are new TBRs, but I also had several stacks of books to reread, which made me look at the whole thing with new eyes.
So I opened my eyes and readjusted my attitude about the little country cupboards in my dining area that hold Disney and Engelbreit collectibles, and thought: what if?
Sometimes we can have the best of both worlds. Collectibles and books, living side by side.
In the upper and lower shelves, I still have my Coca Cola stuff.
Now take a look at this one….
My collections, living side by side: books and memorabilia.
I have one more “country cupboard” in this room, but it holds my vintage dishes.
Now take a look at my newly designed stacks of TBRs….
It looks better, I think. Especially since the only stacks on my coffee table now are the “up next” books (Photo at the top of the post).
This is my version of “spring cleaning”… LOL. What is yours?
It’s great having a daughter in the beauty biz, eh? And as for Spring Cleaning:
Two words: YARD. SALE.

For a minute, the “Craig E. Wegs” threw me, and I was trying to “place you.” LOL
You know I couldn’t possibly SELL any of my books! Ha-ha.
Actually, I did give away a carload of really old ones, some of which I got from that home bookshop where you once worked (in Sacramento). I donated them to the library!

Looks neat and organized– and very pretty. My version of spring cleaning is thinking about it now and then, but never getting around to it.

Yes, mine too, Arlee Bird. The closest I come to it are these sporadic “reorganization” projects, at which time, the shelves get dusted…LOL

I was looking at a book called “decorating with books,” and it was amazing how many clever ways one can “house” books.
Thanks for stopping by, Elizabeth, and for the kind remarks.

I’m always up for a great spring cleaning project–but my bookshelves will probably never get organized. We have our books shoved all over the house–no room!
Good for you for getting organized.

Oh, the task is endless, Ghetto Girl. Even as I finished this one, I started looking around for some new way to arrange the furniture. Space issues are always a challenge!
I had moved from a huge house and adjacent guesthouse combo four years ago, to this VERY downsized space. A constant work-in-progress!
Thanks for stopping by.
