MONDAY POTPOURRI: MUSINGS — MAY 7

Welcome to another Monday Potpourri, with today’s focus on Musings, hosted by Should Be Reading.

Today’s Prompt:

If you were going to write a book, what would you write about? Would it be fiction, or nonfiction?

***

Since I actually have written five novels and I’m now working on two more, I’ll talk about those books.  They are all fiction.

The first five spotlighted themes from my three decades as a social worker, with two of them featuring child abuse victims and how those experiences informed their lives.

In all the books, there are social workers as characters, with an “insider’s view” of what that life was like.  For more information, check out the books on Laurel-Rain Snow’s Creations.

My Works in Progress:

One of my WIPs is called Interior Designs:   Meet Martha Scott Cummings:  an interior designer, an abandoned wife, and a newly single mother to her daughter Meadow.  Now she must begin an interior journey to reexamine the life she had, the choices she made, and to find the strength to begin again.

The other WIP, called Defining Moments, also has themes of loss and betrayal and poses these questions:  What moments in our lives define us? Do our choices determine our future?  When unexpected events derail her life, Jillian McAvoy realizes that she now has an opportunity to carve out a whole new beginning.  But something happens to her along the way that threatens everything she hoped and dreamed about.  How can the obsessions and compulsions that seemingly take over her life lead to her newly redesigned world.

***

So that’s what I’ve done and what I’m working on…now I’m off to see what the rest of you are doing.

  1. You constantly amaze me…just the fact that you can do so much a a time…your WIP’s sound amazing…

I am doing nothing but reading this week…

    • Thanks, Patty….I sometimes think that I’ll never be “done” with the rereads, the rewrites, the continual edits…lol

But I am excited about my two newest books…which will be somewhat different from my others. Glad you could stop by, and enjoy your reading.

  2. I enjoyed hearing what you have written and are writing. I admire your ability to keep writing and reading at the same time.

  3. Your WIP sounds so interesting! Glad you stopped by for mine today.

  4. Kwizgiver

How wonderful to have written so many novels! I’m more reader than writer. And I’m ok with that. :-)

  5. Both of your WIPs sound intriguing. I enjoy “new beginnings” stories. Thanks for sharing!
