TEASER TUESDAYS — FEB. 22

MICKEY IS TEASIN' ME AGAIN!

Welcome to Teaser Tuesdays, hosted by Should Be Reading; this event is a bookish meme that celebrates the books we are reading.

Here’s how it works:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers

Today I’m spotlighting a book I received from the Amazon Vine program; it is an ARC, so the excerpts may not be exactly the same in the final printed version.

The Book of Tomorrow, by Cecelia Ahern, is a magical tale filled with family secrets and intrigue.

A Tidbit from Amazon:

Sixteen-year-old Tamara Goodwin’s life is upended when her wealthy father commits suicide after realizing he can’t pay his debts. Tamara and her devastated mother are forced to move from a Dublin suburb to the countryside to live with Tamara’s aunt and uncle, Rosaleen and Arthur. Tamara chafes under Rosaleen’s domineering personality when her aunt tries to keep Tamara from seeing her depressed, isolated mother. Frustrated, Tamara ventures out of the house, exploring the ruins of the castle Arthur cares for and meeting the locals, including a sprightly nun and a handsome young man who drives around in a traveling library. Tamara comes across a book in the library that captures her attention. Its pages are initially blank, then they start to fill with Tamara’s own thoughts from the following day. Realizing she is able to not only read the future but change it, Tamara uses the diary to unravel the mystery at work in her new home. A veritable modern-day Gothic, Ahern’s (The Gift, 2009) engrossing new novel is filled with family secrets, intrigue, and magic aplenty….

Teaser:  I rushed to the other window, looking out to the back of the castle and I climbed out, my knees scraping against the wall as I leaped up to catch the windowsill.  I landed on concrete on the other side, feeling the sting in my feet as the lack of support in my flip-flops sent pain shooting up my legs.  p. 113

Wow!  Now I can’t wait to find out what’s going on here…what about you?  What lovely snippets did you find today?  I hope you’ll stop by and share.

  25. First off, thank you for the nice welcome on my blog =] Second, I am so excited to read this. I just recieved an ARC from goodreads.com. The final copy is just gorgeous! After reading that teaser I am excited to see what she is running from. Is it someone or something? And why would she leave a castle? I certainly wouldn’t ;)

  26. I just received this one, I can’t wait to read it!

  27. Hi Laurel-Rain,

What some great teaser lines and the synopsis sounds even better. Not ony to be able to see the future, but to change it. That sounds like a very tempting scenario, but I am sure that it’s one that could lead to all kinds of trouble and mayhem, can you just imagine what it would be like if we all had those powers?

  28. Nice teaser. I like the detail.

  29. ouch! Running in flipflops is never good.
