WEEKEND POTPOURRI — TAXES — FEB. 18

Today may turn out to be one of those dreaded days…you know the kind.  When nothing turns out right.

Or it could bring good news.

Does everything rise or fall upon the outcome of certain events in our lives?  Am I the only one who waits for this time of year to come and go?

It started a few years ago, when I no longer had as many tax write-offs as I once had; when the tax liability seemed to grow.  When I owed more money instead of getting those lovely refunds.

Yes, alas, today I visit the “tax man.”  The accountant.

Yesterday, after some procrastination, I finally sorted and organized my materials in preparation for this dreaded visit.  I had created the folder at the beginning of 2010 into which receipts, etc., were tossed willy-nilly.

So, in anticipation of a good night’s sleep, I set the DVR instead of staying up late to watch favorite shows.  Unfortunately, I woke up at midnight.  I watched Grey’s Anatomy (recorded) and Private Practice (also recorded).  But then I couldn’t go back to sleep!  By then it was 2:00 a.m.

After tossing and turning for a bit, I decided to get up and check my Internet connection, since it was “down” last night.  Well, I couldn’t open Firefox—just Internet Explorer.

I fussed around, trying various things and going into panic mode.  Then I decided to restart the computer. Like magic, I could now access Firefox.  Not wanting to take any chances that it might not open again, I decided to stay up and do blog posts.  You can find my Friday Memes at Snow Connections & Impressions.

It is now almost six a.m. and my appointment isn’t until 10:15…what to do?  Oh, yeah, I organized my reading list for the upcoming week and posted book covers of my choices on Curl up and Read.

In the last five minutes, I have opened and closed a couple of Firefox Internet windows successfully, so now I can probably move away from the computer and unplug for awhile.

Put my feet up.  Relax.   And hope for the best.

What triggers your anxiety at this time of the year?  Do you dread Tax Time?

    1. Oh, me too, Patty! It seems so rude, too, that it follows so closely after Christmas and the New Year, totally ruining those holidays…LOL

Thanks for stopping by and venting a bit…I can use lots of people venting on topics like this.
