Today I’m participating in WWW Wednesdays, at Taking on a World of Words. Here’s how it works:
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?
CURRENTLY READING: The Dutch House, by Ann Patchett
Ann Patchett, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Commonwealth, delivers her most powerful novel to date: a richly moving story that explores the indelible bond between two siblings, the house of their childhood, and a past that will not let them go. The Dutch House is the story of a paradise lost, a tour de force that digs deeply into questions of inheritance, love and forgiveness, of how we want to see ourselves and of who we really are.

BOOKS READ & REVIEWED SINCE LAST POST OF 10/19/21:
All the Colors of Night, by Jayne Ann Krentz

Mrs. Saint & the Defectives, by Julie Lawson Timmer

The Beach Club, by Elin Hilderbrand

EAGERLY ANTICIPATING: The Unheard, by Nicci French, a book that was released today.
Synopsis: Maybe Tess is overprotective, but passing her daughter off to her ex and his new young wife fills her with a sense of dread. It’s not that Jason is a bad father—it just hurts to see him enjoying married life with someone else. Still, she owes it to her daughter Poppy to make this arrangement work.
But Poppy returns from the weekend tired and withdrawn. And when she shows Tess a crayon drawing—an image so simple and violent that Tess can hardly make sense of it——Poppy can only explain with the words, “He did kill her.”
Something is horribly wrong. Tess is certain Poppy saw something—or something happened to her—that she’s too young to understand. Jason insists the weekend went off without a hitch. Doctors advise that Poppy may be reacting to her parents’ separation. And as the days go on, even Poppy’s disturbing memory seems to fade. But a mother knows her daughter, and Tess is determined to discover the truth. Her search will set off an explosive tempest of dark secrets and buried crimes—and more than one life may be at stake.

That was my week. What did yours look like?

All the Colors of Night sounds really good. The plotline reminds me of early Dean Koontz novels that I loved so I’ll need to check it out.

I’ve read the first two – I didn’t like the Jayne Ann Krentz although I am usually a fan but the Dutch House had a lot going on that made it a great Book Group choice.
And I didn’t know there was a new French book coming! I will check my library for that. Thank you.

Happy Wednesday!
The Dutch House is a book I’ve been meaning to read. I thought it was interesting that they chose Tom Hanks to narrate the audiobook. 😂 I guess I’ll find out how that fits once I read it.
I hope you have a good week, Laurel-Rain!

Love your selections! I listened to the Dutch House as an audiobook and Tom Hanks were sublime as the narrator. I was total bereft when it ended, all of those people were so real to me.
Have a wonderful week!
