Today I’m participating in WWW Wednesdays, at Taking on a World of Words. Here’s how it works:
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?

EAGERLY ANTICIPATING: The Unheard, by Nicci French – Release Date: October 26, 2021
Maybe Tess is overprotective, but passing her daughter off to her ex and his new young wife fills her with a sense of dread. It’s not that Jason is a bad father—it just hurts to see him enjoying married life with someone else. Still, she owes it to her daughter Poppy to make this arrangement work.
But Poppy returns from the weekend tired and withdrawn. And when she shows Tess a crayon drawing—an image so simple and violent that Tess can hardly make sense of it——Poppy can only explain with the words, “He did kill her.”
Something is horribly wrong. Tess is certain Poppy saw something—or something happened to her—that she’s too young to understand. Jason insists the weekend went off without a hitch. Doctors advise that Poppy may be reacting to her parents’ separation. And as the days go on, even Poppy’s disturbing memory seems to fade. But a mother knows her daughter, and Tess is determined to discover the truth. Her search will set off an explosive tempest of dark secrets and buried crimes—and more than one life may be at stake.

I think I’ve spotted a Nicci French fan! Not my sort of book, but I know you’re in the company of lots of other readers.

Thanks, Cathy, and yes, I am not only reading a Nicci French this week, but my “eagerly anticipated” book is one of theirs! I didn’t even realize I was doing that, lol.
Enjoy your week and your books.

I’ve never read any Nicci French so I’m intrigued to see two books by her on your post for this week. Maybe I should add her to my TBR authors.
I’m also really interested in Rock Paper Scissors. I’ve seen lots of people reading it on my feed, but I’m a bit worried by you saying that you don’t like any of the characters. I always find it much harder to forgive any plot points when I don’t like any characters and it’s very rare that I end up enjoying the book. Wuthering Heights is a rare exception to that, love the book, hate everyone in it.

Thanks, Lisa, I might have been a bit harsh on the characters, but as unlikable as I found most of them, I enjoyed the story enough to keep going. Enjoy!

I also gave Rock Paper Scissors 5 stars. Alice Feeney always has such a clever way of telling a story.

I’ve never read any Nicci French. I’m not sure why not as I know I’ve seen her books around. I might need to add her to my list of TBR authors. Happy Reading!

Thanks, JdV, and Nicci French is a husband-wife team, and they so cleverly write as if they are one person.
