Today I’m participating in WWW Wednesdays, at Taking on a World of Words.  Here’s how it works:

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?

CURRENTLY READING:  The Affair, by Amanda Brooke

A shocking story about a fifteen-year-old girl and the man who took advantage of her…

Not a Happy Family, by Shari Lapena

Nine Perfect Strangers, by Liane Moriarty

A book that will be released on September 7, 2021:  The Night She Disappeared, by Lisa Jewell

On a beautiful summer night in a charming English suburb, a young woman and her boyfriend disappear after partying at the massive country estate of a new college friend.

One year later, a writer moves into a cottage on the edge of the woods that border the same estate. Known locally as the Dark Place, the dense forest is the writer’s favorite area for long walks and it’s on one such walk that she stumbles upon a mysterious note that simply reads, “DIG HERE.”

Could this be a clue towards what has happened to the missing young couple? And what exactly is buried in this haunted ground?

With her signature “rich, dark, and intricately twisted” (Ruth Ware, New York Times bestselling author) prose, Lisa Jewell has crafted a dazzling work of suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final page.

That was my week.  It has not been as productive as the previous one, since I started and stopped a couple of books.  But some weeks are like that.  What did yours look like?

  1. I’m still drawn to Not a Happy Family, but also kind of wary of it. Because of me, not the book! Somehow during covid, everything I read packs a bigger emotional punch than it would normally and I’m worried the dysfunctional family thing will sting. On the other hand, a good thriller is irresistible, and you certainly make this sound *very* good!
