TUESDAY POTPOURRI: EXPECTED & UNEXPECTED TREASURES…

Another Book Release Day!  I woke up to a book I had pre-ordered:

A Good Marriage, by Kimberly McCreight

It arrived safely on Paige, my Kindle, tucked away and waiting for my bliss.

A Good Marriage is a smart, provocative, insightful page-turner. I couldn’t put it down.”  —Harlan Coben, author of The Boy from the Woods

Big Little Lies meets Presumed Innocent in this riveting novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Reconstructing Amelia, in which a woman’s brutal murder reveals the perilous compromises some couples make—and the secrets they keep—in order to stay together.

As I do every Tuesday, I then went to the Goodreads New Release page…and found nothing else to buy today.  But…I saw that the release date had been moved up for Big Summer, by Jennifer Weiner, and I have the ARC.  Original date:  5/19.  So I guess I will start reading it today!

That doesn’t usually happen.  Oh, well.

Six years after the fight that ended their friendship, Daphne Berg is shocked when Drue Cavanaugh walks back into her life, looking as lovely and successful as ever, with a massive favor to ask. Daphne hasn’t spoken one word to Drue in all this time—she doesn’t even hate-follow her ex-best friend on social media—so when Drue asks if she will be her maid-of-honor at the society wedding of the summer, Daphne is rightfully speechless.

Drue was always the one who had everything—except the ability to hold onto friends. Meanwhile, Daphne’s no longer the same self-effacing sidekick she was back in high school. She’s built a life that she loves, including a growing career as a plus-size Instagram influencer. Letting glamorous, seductive Drue back into her life is risky, but it comes with an invitation to spend a weekend in a waterfront Cape Cod mansion. When Drue begs and pleads and dangles the prospect of cute single guys, Daphne finds herself powerless as ever to resist her friend’s siren song.

So…my day is lined up with an unexpected read, but as I skimmed through the synopsis, I got excited about it.

  1. I have no idea that the publication date of Big Summer had been moved up. I have a copy of A Good Marriage headed towards my house right now and am really looking forward to it. Enjoy!

    1. Thanks, Carole, and I discovered the earlier release on the actual release date, so I started reading immediately. I finished it the next day…a day late, but I guess that’s all good. Enjoyed it!
