Today I’m participating in Sam’s WWW Wednesdays. Here’s how it works:
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?
***
Currently Reading: I am 50% through Tell Me Lies, by Carola Lovering, which I thought I would finish today. But I have been distracted. The book is interesting, but not a fast-paced thriller, so it is slower going than some books I’ve read.
I am also ready to begin reading this library book: The Fabulous Bouvier Sisters, by Sam Kashner…
***
BOOKS FINISHED SINCE LAST WEEK – (Titles/Covers Linked to My Reviews):
What Happened, by Hillary Rodham Clinton
An Anonymous Girl (e-book), by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen – (NG-1/8/19)
***
EAGERLY ANTICIPATING:
Earlier today I downloaded an e-ARC that will be released on 8/6/19: Keeping Lucy, by T. Greenwood:
Synopsis: From the author of Rust & Stardust comes this heartbreaking story, inspired by true events, of how far one mother must go to protect her daughter.
Dover, Massachusetts, 1969. Ginny Richardson’s heart was torn open when her baby girl, Lucy, born with Down Syndrome, was taken from her. Under pressure from his powerful family, her husband, Ab, sent Lucy away to Willowridge, a special school for the “feeble-minded.” Ab tried to convince Ginny it was for the best. That they should grieve for their daughter as though she were dead. That they should try to move on.
But two years later, when Ginny’s best friend, Marsha, shows her a series of articles exposing Willowridge as a hell-on-earth–its squalid hallways filled with neglected children–she knows she can’t leave her daughter there. With Ginny’s six-year-old son in tow, Ginny and Marsha drive to the school to see Lucy for themselves. What they find sets their course on a heart-racing journey across state lines—turning Ginny into a fugitive.
For the first time, Ginny must test her own strength and face the world head-on as she fights Ab and his domineering father for the right to keep Lucy. Racing from Massachusetts to the beaches of Atlantic City, through the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia to a roadside mermaid show in Florida, Keeping Lucy is a searing portrait of just how far a mother’s love can take her.

This week has been less productive than the last one, but I’m enjoying the books even as I am distracted by the holidays, outside activities, and binge-watching. How has your week unfolded?

Keeping Lucy looks really good. Even when you are distracted you read tons! Den and I are just so taken with Mrs. Maizel…we can’t stop watching. The clothes! The furniture! All of the accessories! It’s amazing!

Thanks, Patty, I just got Keeping Lucy…lately, I just find new books in my inbox, without having to ask. I love that!
Mrs. Maisel reminds me of Mad Men, the female version. I love listening to her comic routines. She is a natural. Enjoy!

Oh, I know, we get them so early…and it is tempting to read them right away. We could, of course, but not post the reviews for a long while. LOL.

Thanks for stopping by, Teri, and memoirs are my preferred nonfiction, especially when the subjects are famous people I admire…or celebrities that are interesting. Anything Kennedy or Bouvier gets my vote.

Thanks for stopping by, Karen, Lee Bouvier was the one who introduced Jackie to Onassis. LOL

Oh now that could have been tricky in the future when she saw where her sister ended up

I’ll be interested to see your review of the Bouvier book. I worry about balance — with Jackie dead, does Lee just automatically get to control the narrative? (Don’t Jackie and Lee remind you a bit of Kate and Pippa Middleton?)
