Earlier today, I started reading one of my recent downloads, The Golden State, by Lydia Kiesling,  a gorgeous, raw debut novel about a young woman braving the ups and downs of motherhood in a fractured America, and as much as I think I’m going to enjoy it, I had to set it aside for a while.  I need something with a faster pace, and the writing style of Kiesling’s book had me going back to reread sections because her writing style is rambling, with long sentences and sparse on commas.  Confusing.  But with more time on it, I may manage.

Meanwhile, I started another book, Cross Her Heart, by Sarah Pinborough, which has me moving along quickly.

EAGERLY ANTICIPATING:

I am a fairly recent fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid, but I jumped right on this upcoming release and bookmarked it.  I have to have it!  Daisy Jones & the Six has ingredients I love:  the 1970s rock scene, an infamous breakup of the band, and the mystery behind it.  March 5, 2019 is the release date, so I’ll be anticipating it for a while.

Synopsis:  Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six, but nobody knows the reason behind their split at the absolute height of their popularity . . . until now.

Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.
