TUESDAY POTPOURRI: COZY SPACES & NEW BOOKS…

Good morning!  It is Tuesday…and time to reflect on new releases…and/or ponder the state of our Review/TBR Shelves.

In the photo above, I am spotlighting a cozy space that I don’t use very much.  How is that possible, you ask?  Well, part of it is the kitchen, of course; I go there to prepare my meals/coffee, and then take a tray into one of my other rooms.  Usually.

I should use it more, though; I do enjoy that little dining table, and looking at the country cupboards.

Here is a close-up of that dining nook:

I haven’t downloaded any new releases today…I checked some out, and considered adding this one:

Tear Me Apart, by J. T. Ellison (I’ve enjoyed this author)

The follow-up to her critically acclaimed Lie to Me, J.T. Ellison’s Tear Me Apart is the powerful story of a mother willing to do anything to protect her daughter even as their carefully constructed world unravels around them.

I would have downloaded it today, but I received one of my library holds, a book I’ve been awaiting for a long while:

Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine, by Gail Honeyman

“Beautifully written and incredibly funny, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is about the importance of friendship and human connection. I fell in love with Eleanor, an eccentric and regimented loner whose life beautifully unfolds after a chance encounter with a stranger; I think you will fall in love, too!” —Reese Witherspoon

Today I’m reading An Unwanted Guest, by Shari Lapena,

A weekend retreat at a cozy mountain lodge is supposed to be the perfect getaway. . . but when the storm hits, no one is getting away.

After I finish this book, I may need to read something calm…but I still have last week’s library book to read:

I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, by Michelle McNamara (not calm!)The haunting true story of the elusive serial rapist turned murderer who terrorized California during the 70s and 80s, and of the gifted journalist who died tragically while investigating the case—which was solved in April 2018.

So…my week so far.  What does yours look like?

  1. Eleanor Oliphant is on my “Must Be Read Soon” list as well. Everyone I know who has read it has loved it. All I need is to get over my late summer thriller obsession.
Enjoyed the photo of your cozy kitchen space.

    1. Thanks, Judith, when one has a tiny space, cozy is the look we go for…LOL.

I’m eager to read Eleanor Oliphant, and glad I finally got it from the library. I’m in thriller mode, too; An Unwanted Guest is almost done…and I’ll start I’ll Be Gone in the Dark next.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, I’ve always loved red in decor, and started collecting Coca Cola stuff for my guest house when I lived in the foothills. When I downsized, I thought they fit nicely in my smaller space.

I am excited about Eleanor Oliphant, and glad that I waited for the library book. I’m trying to do that more!
