MY HUMP DAY READING…

Today I’m participating in Sam’s WWW Wednesdays Here’s how it works:

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?

***

Currently Reading:  Bring Her Home, by David Bell, imagines a suburban world where no one really knows what’s happening behind all those drawn blinds. In Bell’s take, though, even the people inside don’t really know what’s happening. That’s where his brilliance, and the brilliance of Bring Her Home, rests.”

EAGERLY ANTICIPATING:

Earlier this week, I received a NetGalley ARC of Sister of Mine, by Laurie Petrou; it will be released on 8/7/18, so I will be reading it sometime in July.

Synopsis:  Penny and Hattie, orphaned sisters in a small town, are best friends, bound together to the point of knots. But Penny, at the mercy of her brutal husband, is desperate for a fresh start. Willing to do anything for her older sister, Hattie agrees to help. A match is struck and a fire burns Penny’s marriage to the ground. With her husband gone, Penny is free, and the sisters, it seems, get away with murder. But freedom comes at a cost.

More than a year after the fire, a charming young man comes to town. Hattie and Penny quickly bring him into the fold and into their hearts but their love for him threatens the delicate balance. Soon long-held resentments, sibling rivalry, and debts unpaid boil over, and the bonds of sisterhood begin to snap. As one little lie grows into the next, the sisters’ secrets will unravel, eroding their lives until only a single, horrible truth remains: You owe me.

A compelling novel of suspense from a talented new voice, Sister of Mine asks us to consider the bonds of family, what it takes to commit the unthinkable, and how far you’ll go to protect the ones you love.

So far, it has been an engaging week.  What does yours look like?

  1. I’m going to have to read Bell’s Bring Her Home..I’ve had it since last year and heard good things. I just finished his newest book, Somebody’s Daughter, coming out in July, which is my 1st time reading him and I thought it would be better based on reviews for Bring Her Home…now time to find out what everyone was talking about!! Enjoy it! I really need to read Educated, and I have House Swap to read too! Happy reading!

      1. I do need to read it since Somebody’s Daughter was just 3 stars for me and it seems Bring Her Home was a huge hit. I’ll look forward to your thoughts. I’m going to see if I can get Educated on audible. It sounds fascinating. You too!

  2. David Bell lives in my city and is speaking at our library next month – always an entertaining speaker with a great sense of humor. I’ve read a couple of his books, and they’re hard to put down!
