Today I’m participating in Sam’s WWW Wednesdays. Here’s how it works:
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?
***
Currently Reading: The Perfect Nanny, by Leila Slimani: She has the keys to their apartment. She knows everything. She has embedded herself so deeply in their lives that it now seems impossible to remove her.
***
BOOKS FINISHED SINCE LAST WEEK (Titles/Covers Linked to My Reviews)
My Absolute Darling, by Gabriel Tallent
The French Girl, by Lexie Elliott
Not That I Could Tell, by Jessica Strawser – (NG – 3/27)
The Bad Daughter, by Joy Fielding
***
EAGERLY ANTICIPATING: (Release Date: 4/10)
The New Neighbors, by Simon Lelic
Synopsis: The perfect couple. The perfect house. The perfect crime.
Londoners Jack and Syd found their dream home: lots of space, a great location, and a friendly owner who wanted a young couple to have it.
Everything is exactly what they hoped for when they move in–except Jack makes a disturbing discovery in the attic, and Syd begins to wonder about the girl next door. And they each keep the other in the dark.
A mistake.
Because someone has just been killed outside their back door, and now the police are watching them.
This is their chance to prove they’re innocent–or to get away with murder.
Whose story do you believe?

So…my week in books. What did yours look like?

All these sound like interesting picks. Enjoy your week!

Thanks, Sharon, I loved the ones I read…except My Absolute Darling was only mediocre and a bit boring in parts. The others were awesome. Enjoy your picks.

I seem to be reading more about books than actually reading books. Sigh!

I saw Leila Slimani in London talk about Lullaby/The Perfect Nanny and she certainly didn’t intend it to be a thriller, although it is being marketed as such. It’s more a study of social classes, loneliness, the role of women. I thought it was powerful, although perhaps some of the power gets lost in translation.

That’s a lot of books! Simon Lelic’s book was published in the UK as The House, which I found compelling reading, so I’ll be interested in what you think about that. The Perfect Nanny intrigues me too.
Happy reading!
