A NEW YEAR & A NEW WEEK: HUMP DAY READING

Today I’m participating in Sam’s WWW Wednesdays Here’s how it works:

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?

***

CURRENTLY READING:

Eaves of Destruction (e-book, Fixer-Upper Mystery), by Kate Carlisle:  Murder is on the to-do list when construction contractor Shannon Hammer looks for a killer in the fifth Fixer-Upper Mystery…

I am also reading (more slowly) a nonfiction book called Jane Fonda: The Private Life of a Public Woman, by Patricia Bosworth…I’m only on the second chapter so far, but I’m enjoying learning more about her early years.

BOOKS FINISHED SINCE LAST WEEK: (Click Titles/Covers for My Reviews)

The Girls in the Picture (e-book), by Melanie Benjamin (NetGalley – 1/16/18)

Lost & Found Sisters (e-book), by Jill Shalvis

Every Breath You Take (Under Suspicion Mystery), by Mary Higgins Clark & Alafair Burke (First Book of the Year)

EAGERLY ANTICIPATING:

Today I downloaded a book I’ve been eager to read:  The Woman in the Window, by A. J. Finn.  I hope to start reading it soon.

Synopsis:  It isn’t paranoia if it’s really happening . . .

Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors.

Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare.

What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.

I love books about reclusive and/or agoraphobic characters…and who doesn’t love a Rear Window vibe?

How are your week and New Year shaping up?  Are you enjoying your books?

  1. Mary Higgins Clark was my other option for First Book of the Year but it came in later. I may just ignore it because I have books I need to finish. I just started Murder at the Vicarage last night so I still need to dig into it. I’m getting used to all the villagers.

      1. I have read all of her fixer – upper series but I like her Bibliophile books. I have read all of them. Julia Blackwell has a paranormal home repair series which I like. I keep getting mixed up. Yes, it was probably the Mother which is the reason I stopped reading the books.

  2. I can’t believe Fonda is now 80! I grew up on her and resent the passage of time and what it means for both of us. Bosworth is a credible biographer, so I’ll have to look into this one. I read Fonda’s own memoir and found her childhood (missing her dad during WWII, her relationship with her mother) very moving.

    1. Thanks, Gal, I’ve read Fonda’s memoir, too. Love her perspective on her life and choices. This biographer is a good friend of hers, so she had the insider view.

As my favorite actors age, I realize that I am aging, too! lol Time does fly. Glad you could stop by.
