Today I’m participating in Sam’s WWW Wednesdays. Here’s how it works:
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?
***
CURRENTLY READING:
I’m two-thirds of the way through Lie to Me, by J. T. Ellison. I’m loving it, although it reminds me of Gone Girl, just a bit, but it is different enough that it keeps me guessing.
And I’m starting Keep Her Safe, by Sophie Hannah
***
BOOKS FINISHED SINCE LAST WEEK: (Titles/Covers Linked to My Reviews)
Say You’re Sorry (e-book), by Melinda Leigh (Book One – Morgan Dane)
Her Last Goodbye (e-book), by Melinda Leigh (Book Two – Morgan Dane)
***
EAGERLY ANTICIPATING:
Four sisters desperately seeking the blueprints to life—the modern-day retelling of Louise May Alcott’s Little Women like only Anna Todd (After, Imagines) could do.
The Spring Girls—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—are a force of nature on the New Orleans military base where they live. As different as they are, with their father on tour in Iraq and their mother hiding something, their fears are very much the same. Struggling to build lives they can be proud of and that will lift them out of their humble station in life, one year will determine all that their futures can become.
The oldest, Meg, will be an officer’s wife and enter military society like so many of the women she admires. If her passion—and her reputation—don’t derail her.
Beth, the workhorse of the family, is afraid to leave the house, is afraid she’ll never figure out who she really is.
Jo just wants out. Wishing she could skip to graduation, she dreams of a life in New York City and a career in journalism where she can impact the world. Nothing can stop her—not even love.
And Amy, the youngest, is watching all her sisters, learning from how they handle themselves. For better or worse.
With plenty of sass, romance, and drama, The Spring Girls revisits Louisa May Alcott’s classic Little Women, and brings its themes of love, war, class, adolescence, and family into the language of the twenty-first century.

My week, looking back. What does yours look like?

Thanks, Rosie Amber, I don’t always enjoy retellings, but this one sounds good to me.

The Spring Girls is intriguing! I wonder if the girls’ lives turn out differently to the original Little Women? Have you read the original (because I don’t want to give anything away if you haven’t?)

Thanks for stopping by, Cathy, and I wondered that, too. I read Little Women several times when I was young. I read it again after I started blogging, for a Louisa May Alcott Challenge.

OK, then I’m gonna say it, what I’m wondering is [spoiler alert] does XXXX die?

I’ll be interested in what you think of Anna Todd’s upcoming release. I’m not sure if the After series ruined her books for me or not. 😉

Ooh I’m not sure where I stand on that retelling of Little Women – part of me really wants to read it, the other part is worried that the new version will spoil a childhood favourite.

Thanks for visiting, Cleo, and I share those concerns, too. But I am still curious about the book.

Thanks, Patty, I am eager to get my hands on it. I suppose you got it from Edelweiss, as it’s not on NetGalley. Sigh.
