Today I’m participating in Sam’s WWW Wednesdays. Here’s how it works:
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?
***
CURRENTLY READING:
Today I’m reading two books, one in the print format and the other, an e-book.
The Child (e-book), by Fiona Barton, “a perfect blend of beach read and book club selection. It’s a fascinating and fitting follow-up to [Barton’s] best-selling debut novel, The Widow. . . .[A] page-turning whodunit….A novel that is both fast-paced and thought-provoking, it keeps the reader guessing right to the end.”—USA Today

The Comfort of Others, by Kay Langdale

BOOKS FINISHED SINCE LAST WEEK:
(Click Titles/Covers for my Reviews)
Love Letters, by Debbie Macomber
The Comfort of Secrets (e-book), by Christine Nolfi (NG – 7/18)
Another Brooklyn, by Jacqueline Woodson
The Girl: A Life in the Shadow of Roman Polanski, by Samantha Geimer
The Summer House (e-book), by Hannah McKinnon
***
EAGERLY ANTICIPATING:
I made a recent discovery from an author I enjoy: The Bad Daughter, by Joy Fielding, will be released on February 27, 2018.
What first appears to be a random home invasion reveals a family’s dark secrets in this domestic ticking-clock suspense from the New York Times bestselling author of See Jane Run.
A hostile relationship with her sister and a complicated past with her father’s second wife have kept Robin estranged from her family for many years. But when her father’s new family is attacked in their house, with her father and his wife in critical condition in the hospital, she returns home determined to put her experience as a therapist to use to help mend fences and care for her young stepsister, who survived the attack relatively unscathed. It looks like a random robbery gone awry, but as Robin spends more time with her family members, she learns they all had their secrets — and one of those secrets may have put them all in horrible danger.

That was my week so far. What did yours look like?

I’ve heard good things about Fiona Barton’s The Child. And the memoir of the girl at the centre of the Roman Polanski scandal sounds like an intense and rather sad read…

Thanks, MarthaSofia, I am eager to immerse myself in The Child…and the memoir was sad indeed, but also inspirational, as the author gained strength from standing up for herself.

I’m seeing The Child mentioned A LOT and it’s usually the case that if a lot of book bloggers like a book it’s probably a good ‘un. Hope you enjoy it.

I agree, Cathy, and I loved the author’s previous book, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be happy with it.

I recently read The Child and really liked it. I look forward to seeing what you thought of it. All the other books look good too. I’m especially interested in the Joy Fielding book. I haven’t read one of hers in years. Enjoy your reading.

I started reading the opening chapters of The Girl at the library a few weeks ago when I procrastinating on uni work. It sounds like a really good read, to get her perspective. I really like the sound of The Comfort of Others, too. Happy reading!

Laurel,
Looks like your summer reading is going well (I want to try the Fiona Barton book). I’m finding less reading time this summer for some reason but, hope to remedy that. Just finished The Leavers; Lisa Ko – part mystery and social justice issues – 4/5 stars and Ruth Ware’s latest, The Lying Game – 4/5 stars.

I loved The Child, Diane, although there are mixed reactions from others. The Lying Game is definitely on my list, as I enjoyed The Woman in Cabin 10 and The Dark, Dark Wood.
Hope to see more of you on the blogs….thanks for stopping by!
