HUMP DAY POTPOURRI: CAPTIVATING BOOKS….

Today I’m participating in Sam’s WWW Wednesdays Here’s how it works:

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?

***

CURRENTLY READING:

Bridges:  A Daphne White Story (e-book), by Maria Murnane, is a book about the power of friendship.

***

JUST FINISHED:

So far this week, I have read and reviewed two books:

Never Change (e-book), by Elizabeth Berg (click the title for my review).

***

The Idea of You (e-book), by Amanda Prowse (click for my review).

***

EAGERLY ANTICIPATING:

I have been trying to get my hands on this one, and so far, I have been unable to acquire it.  It will be released on 6/27/17, so I guess I can wait.

The Child, by Fiona Barton (author of The Widow), is a novel of twisting psychological suspense.

As an old house is demolished in a gentrifying section of London, a workman discovers a tiny skeleton, buried for years. For journalist Kate Waters, it’s a story that deserves attention. She cobbles together a piece for her newspaper, but at a loss for answers, she can only pose a question: Who is the Building Site Baby?

As Kate investigates, she unearths connections to a crime that rocked the city decades earlier: A newborn baby was stolen from the maternity ward in a local hospital and was never found. Her heartbroken parents were left devastated by the loss.

But there is more to the story, and Kate is drawn—house by house—into the pasts of the people who once lived in this neighborhood that has given up its greatest mystery. And she soon finds herself the keeper of unexpected secrets that erupt in the lives of three women—and torn between what she can and cannot tell…

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Cleo, and I was disappointed that I didn’t get The Child from NetGalley. I realize that I haven’t been participating in that program all that long, but it is rare to get a “disapproval,” so it’s disappointing. I will just have to wait until it’s released!

I’m actually really glad to see that you liked The Idea of You. I randomly got invited to view it by the publisher on NetGalley (genuinely didn’t know that was a thing, haha) but I hadn’t heard of it before so I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it, haha. But seeing you liked it makes me more excited to have it 🙂

  2. Ooo ‘The Child’ sounds like an intriguing read 😀 I do enjoy becoming immersed in a good psychological thriller. I think I’ll have to keep my eye out for it when it’s released!
