Welcome to another Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts post, hosted by Lexxie, at (un)Conventional Bookviews.
Here’s what the event is all about:
The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.

My post today is from the novel Catching Air, by Sarah Pekkanen.
It is about two couples running a Bed & Breakfast in Vermont. Kira and Peter Danner have left after Kira’s six soul-crushing years in Florida as a lawyer. Now they run the B & B with Peter’s brother Rand and wife Alyssa. They discover that there is more to the enterprise than serving up food:
“Kira ladled Butternut Squash soup into a big serving tureen and filled a basket with thick slices of her homemade honey-wheat bread. She hesitated, then went to the freezer and pulled out a dozen of the tomato-and-cheese tarts she’d made as a test for wedding appetizers. Dawn (a guest) hadn’t eaten any lunch at the lodge. She must be hungry.
Alyssa had filled her in on Dawn’s story while their surprise guest took a bath, but Kira’s mind still buzzed with questions.”

I love the sound of that Butternut Squash soup…and the bread, too. I could curl up right now and savor it…and the TLC offered by the hosts sounds good, too. What do you think?

Your quote made me hungry, Laurel-Rain, and I’m also very curious. Like, who is that secret guest? Of course, I had to add Catching Air to my TBR 🙂
Thanks for participating!
