HUMP DAY POTPOURRI: WAITING ON WEDNESDAY — THE NEXT BEST THING — JUNE 6

Time for another Hump Day Potpourri!  Today I’m very excited about some of the upcoming releases I’m discovering at Waiting on Wednesday.

If you love discovering new books, hop on over and check it out.

When I hear about a new book from a favorite author, I’m very excited.  Waiting for such a book is like waiting for the flowers of spring.  Or the warm days of summer, if you like that kind of thing.  Perhaps it’s like going to the beach.

Today’s choice for me is from an author whose work I always enjoy:  Jennifer Weiner’s new book, The Next Best Thing, is coming on July 3, and is set against the fascinating backdrop of Hollywood show business culture.

About the Book:  Actors aren’t the only ones trying to make it in Hollywood.…At twenty-three, Ruth Saunders left her childhood home in Massachusetts and headed west with her seventy-year-old grandma in tow, hoping to make it as a screenwriter. Six years later, she hits the jackpot when she gets The Call: the sitcom she wrote, The Next Best Thing, has gotten the green light, and Ruthie’s going to be the showrunner. But her dreams of Hollywood happiness are threatened by demanding actors, number-crunching executives, an unrequited crush on her boss, and her grandmother’s impending nuptials.

Set against the fascinating backdrop of Los Angeles show business culture, with an insider’s ear for writer’s room showdowns and an eye for bad backstage behavior and set politics, Jennifer Weiner’s new novel is a rollicking ride on the Hollywood roller coaster, a heartfelt story about what it’s like for a young woman to love, and lose, in the land where dreams come true.

I can’t wait!  What about you?  What’s your pick today?

  3. I have only read two of Jennifer’s books so far, but I loved them both. I own quite a stack of them (thank you Goodwill!!) so hopefully I can read more soon. I’ll be picking this one up either way though because it just looks too good to put on a waiting list 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Book Cover Justice!
