It’s raining today, which means that it’s perfect for reading…and even writing.
I did a little rereading and tweaking of my Defining Moments WIP yesterday…and finished reading The Bungalow. (Click the title to go to the review).
What a fabulous read! And, I must admit that the gorgeous cover didn’t hurt, either.
Earlier this morning, I was doing a little house cleaning…yeah, it’s inevitable that I must, at some point. lol
The task led me to the garage and some of the boxes that were only partially unpacked after my move (almost five years ago!).
I found a couple of framed photos of two of my grandchildren. Why were they still in the box? Well, I have tons of pictures of them. I had forgotten about these, enclosed in some really cute frames. So I brought them into the living room and rearranged a few other framed photos to give these center stage for awhile.
Right now I’m reading Ship of Souls, an urban fantasy tale by Zetta Elliott (from Amazon Vine).
I don’t usually read YA (or urban fantasy), but what grabbed my attention was that the protagonist ended up in foster care after the death of his mother. A good student, he turns more and more to fantasy and magic after his first placement starts to change…and not for the better.
Turning to an interior life, or finding magical happenings in the world around us, isn’t that unusual during times of stress or extreme difficulties. I am already feeling connected to this character, D, who tells the story in the first person narrative.
It’s a short book, so I expect to have a review up later today, even though I have a few items on my “to-do” list.
Speaking of the list…I love Tuesday night TV and watched two of my favorite shows from my DVR this morning. Parenthood and Ringer never fail to capture my interest.
What are some of your favorites? Are you reading anything good today?
Tomorrow is my appointment with the accountant…Ugh. Tax time is not my favorite. I think I wrote a post about it last year: Weekend Potpourri: Taxes. It wasn’t my favorite time of year last year, either.
This year, I hope to avoid having to pay extra taxes because of extra deductions taken out throughout the year. We shall see!
Do you also dread tax time? How do you deal with the stress/anxiety/dread?
