Monday is the beginning of a new reading week.

Over at An Interior Journey, I talk about books in the mail and books read, as well as what’s up next.

The first book I tackled this week was so captivating that I already finished it.  Here’s my review (Click the link and/or the picture)

Next, I grabbed the newest book by Sophie Kinsella, and I’m already enjoying the character Poppy.  In the opening pages, she loses her engagement ring, a family heirloom.  I have a feeling there will be many antics along the way.

This past weekend, even as I was finishing up the previous week’s reads, I did a bit of decluttering here at the home place.

My friends and family know that I’m a bit of a collector.  This was all fine and good in my larger home.  Now that I’ve downsized, it’s been an ongoing challenge to keep the collections in a manageable form.

One of my hallway closets was totally stuffed with “treasures,” even as my garage held floor to ceiling shelves with see-through bins containing more treasures.

I moved some of the indoor closet stuff out to the garage.  And tossed some of the garage collections into the recycling bins.  Alas!

But I feel better about the state of my rooms and closets…lol

A Good Way to Organize

I’m a chicken!  I should show my actual garage with the bins stuffed to the gills.

My organization is a work in progress.

But here’s the good news!  While sorting through the various garage bins to see what I could eliminate, I discovered something I’ve been looking for ever since I moved…my granddaughter Fiona’s Italian charm bracelet!

I thought it was lost forever!  I believed I had put it somewhere safe for the move.  Well, obviously I thought I would remember that safe place….

When you’re packing for a move, do you sometimes lose things?  Do you eventually find them?  I guess the moral of this story is to never leave the bins untended, without searching through them all.  Because you never know where you might have hidden that special treasure!

  1. OMG…truly truly delightful and funny…the charm bracelet part and your organization and I am indeed shocked that you can part with anything…I am reading the new Val McDermid book…veddy veddy English and veddy veddy yummy…from Netgalley!!!

    1. Oh, I love British novels…I can “hear” the accents as I read!

I didn’t part with a lot; mostly I put my “treasures” in bins in the garage, but got rid of some of the stuff that I know I’ll never use again, or even showcase.

I did keep dolls and bears, though! And I am so happy to have found the charm bracelet. Thanks for visiting, Patty.
