Welcome to another edition of Teaser Tuesdays, hosted by Should Be Reading.
Here’s how it works:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.
Today I’m excerpting from a book that’s been on my newer TBR stacks for awhile.
Names My Sisters Call Me, by Megan Crane, is a story about sisters, about feuds, and about healing the wounds.
Courtney Cassel is getting married. Wonderful news, except for one hitch: her family is not speaking. Six years ago, her artsy, spacey sister, Raine, ran away to California hours after delivering a hateful speech at eldest sister Norah’s wedding. The fact that Norah is a prissy type-A personality fuels the feud, and Courtney, the youngest, is dragged into the center. Before she marries her charming, stalwart fiancé, she wants to mend the past. But there is one more complication: when Raine ran off to San Francisco, she took Matt Cheney—he of the brooding good looks, dragon tattoo, and untapped musical talent—with her, interrupting a secret summer love affair. Courtney thinks she is over him, but when she travels west to make amends, the devil from her past opens the door. Between brokering a reconciliation, navigating latent feelings of unexpected lust, and trying to plan a wedding, this lovable, candid, and often droll heroine finds her voice, gets a grip, and learns how to stand up to her sisters. Delightful fun from the author of Frenemies (2007). –Emily Cook….
***
Teaser: I fumed the whole way back into Center City, barely noticing the usual irritants of Philadelphia public transportation because I was so annoyed with Norah. Sometimes I truly believed that she had no idea who I was. p. 35

I can’t wait to dive into this story. What are you excerpting today? I hope you’ll stop by and share….

I like sisters drama…I have enjoyed watching sisters interact over the years, but I only had one sister, and she was too much younger for me to consider a “real sister.”
Thanks for stopping by, Amy.

Family are usually the ones who think they know you, but don’t GET IT when you most need it. Love that the teaser captures that thought!

Speaking of transportation in Philly. My husband almost didn’t get home because the trains weren’t running. This heat does bad things…Geez.
