Here we go again!  Another great Waiting on Wednesdays, hosted by Jill, at Breaking the Spine.

What are you eagerly anticipating this week?  I just discovered an upcoming release that fits right in here at my Potpourri blog, in which I often talk about soap operas and the magic of that genre.

I’m Just Sayin’!, by Kim Zimmer, is a candid and entertaining memoir from an icon of the soap genre, to be released on 8/2/11.

As the notorious Reva Shayne on the daytime television drama Guiding Light, Kim Zimmer has portrayed a vixen, a manic-depressive, an Amish woman, a time traveler, a Civil War belle, a talk show host, a cancer survivor, a loving mother, and a devoted wife. Now, in this rollicking, heartfelt and surprising memoir, Zimmer delves into her experiences as a daytime diva.

Blatantly honest and wildly indiscreet, I’m Just Sayin’! tells it all and takes readers on an insightful journey through the parallel lives of Reva Shayne and Kim Zimmer, and the stories behind the longest-running drama in television and radio history.

I’ve already preordered this one, and I won’t have long to wait, since it’s coming very soon!  Hope you’ll stop by and share your own upcoming books.

    1. Yes, I watched Guiding Light from the beginning when it was just a fifteen minute show! My favorite times were the eighties, when Reva was first introduced.

      Thanks for stopping by, Jennifer.

  1. I’m not really into memoirs (and biographies and the like) but this lady looks like she’s led a colorful life so reading it will be enjoyable.

I hope you enjoy the book when it’s finally released.

    Thanks for stopping by. ^_^h

Interesting choice, there. I’ve never really been able to hold interest in the actual soap opera plots and storylines, but the fan culture and production of the genre is very interesting to me. But I’m glad your WoW is coming home to you soon – a lot of my recent WoW picks aren’t coming out until September or later. 😦

    1. After Guiding Light and As the World Turns went off the air, I started watching All My Children and was hooked right away. Now, of course, AMC and One Life to Live are going off the air too! The death of the soap genre? I hope not!

      Thanks for stopping by, Leslie.

  3. Kim Zimmer fans will also enjoy the Mr. Media VIDEO interview in which she talks about working with her friend Alec Baldwin on “The Doctors,” replacing Kathleen Turner on “The Doctors” and playing her double onscreen in “Body Heat,” her 26 years on “The Guiding Light,” and her struggles with alcohol in the show’s final years.
