TEASER TUESDAYS — JAN. 25

TEASIN' MICKEY

Good morning, and welcome to Teaser Tuesdays, hosted by Should Be Reading—our wonderful weekly opportunity to share snippets of our current reads and to visit the excerpts of other bloggers.

Here’s how it works:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Today I’m featuring one of my reads for the week: a graduate of my TBR stacks.  My Mother’s Daughter, by Rona Maynard, is a memoir.

From a Review on Amazon:

My Mother’s Daughter is a searingly honest, often indignant look at life with high-powered parents and at the rivalries, resentments and deeply felt bonds of the mother-daughter relationship….Maynard’s account of life as a satellite in her mother’s orbit, of family friction, frenzied hopes and hard-won accomplishment is laced with both satisfaction and leftover vexation.” — London Free Press

My Teaser:  Late at night our house revealed its hidden self.  While the rest of us slept, my father put his oatmeal on to simmer in the double boiler, the only kitchen utensil he had mastered. p. 37

I love teasers that reveal a glimpse of the characters’ daily lives.  What about the rest of you?  What tidbits can you share today?

  2. I’m always looking for a really good memoir. This one would fill the bill since most of us have a lot of questions about the mother-daughter relationship. 🙂 Am also at the age where am interested in my own memoir writing.
Thanks for checking out my TT for “The Holy Thief” at Summit Musings .
