Computers are nasty things sometimes, even though the MS-DOS era is long gone (thank god!) Weirdly enough I still remember the MS-DOS era and boy, was that horrible. You needed atleast an IQ of 170 to properly work with a computer! Long live Windows.
LOL… I can so relate to that teaser. When we had our first computer, I knew only how to turn it on and off. Nothing ever worked for me no matter how hard I tried to learn. One day I turned it on and the screen was red with a sign in BIG letters that said, DANGER DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPUTER.
I feel lucky that when I first got my computer, my eldest son was visiting from Europe and taught me some basics. When he comes (not often enough!), he stays for a few months.
Nowadays, if the computer is even working when I have a problem, I Skype with him.
But last year, for three months in a row, things went wrong that required a computer geek (for hire). There went my little savings!
I can totally relate to this too. I still get all bothered when I get an error message on the machine. I don’t think anyone ever really understood MS DOS. Thankfully everything is a lot more intuitive nowadays. Touchscreens are my favourite thing in the world.
Yes, I can definitely relate to that teaser! I love my computer, but I have no idea how anything works. Fortunately, my hubby is something of a tech-geek sort who keeps everything up and running (he says that’s why I can never divorce him). Happy reading this week!
Drivers do cause annoying problems. I’m still in my 20s, so you’d think I’d be able to stay abreast of the latest technological innovations, but the last time I read a PC magazine was in 2003 — an article about “hyperthreading”. All I can remember is that it makes computers operate more quickly.
Hmm, maybe I should read some PC magazines! Thanks for stopping by, smellin coffee. Of course, reading the magazines might just reinforce what I don’t know!
Hahaha – this is a great tease! This would be a book I would really enjoy. Even though I am somewhat computer adept, I understand wanting to smack the side of the computer – or throw it out of the window! Haha!
I can definitely relate to that as well! I recently had to take an exam on my knowledge of computers which helped me realize that I really know nothing except how to use a computer. L0l! Thanks for sharing your teaser today!
I’m not quite that old yet, but I can appreciate the author’s take on technology…it’s like trying to help my mother check her email! Sounds like a fun book, I hope the rest of it has been as enjoyable as this teaser.
Well, even though I’m in the age group to have used MS-DOS, my only experience with it was total frustration, and then I gave up. When Windows came, I was very happy! Even though stuff still happens….
Yes! This reminds me of the day when I was told to “clear my cache”. Who knew I even had “cache”? I too am a latecomer to technology but can’t envision retired life without being connected to the world through my computer. Your TT sounds like a must read for all women of a certain age–and I guess that’s individual?
My TT is for Sara Donati’s historical romance series Into the Wilderness — Summit Musings
Oh, I know…even with the occasional stumbling blocks, I’d feel lost without my computer. Which is why I get frustrated/tense/homicidal…when things go wrong!
Love the cover of that book and the complicated computer tease!

Ah, there’s an upside to staying married, Joy! Too bad I didn’t think of it, but I got divorced before computers came into my life.
My eldest son is my computer geek, but he lives in Europe. Alas….
