TEASER TUESDAYS — SEPT. 21

MICKEY TEASES!

Today we’re gathered to network and share tidbits about our current reads, just so the rest of you will be tempted to try our books.  This event is hosted by Should Be Reading.

I’m going to share some snippets from The Cloud Chamber, by Joyce Maynard.

This is a unique story about a family that is traumatized by the father’s mysterious gunshot wound.  Secrets surround what happened, including where the father has gone.  A young boy tries to cope and begins to work on a science project that hopefully will make his dad proud and bring the family together again.

Here’s the teaser:

A long time ago, when he was little, Nate and his dad hiked to the edge of their land together to watch the total eclipse of the sun.  They’d buried a time capsule under the poplars that day, with a Matchbox car inside, along with the wrapper from the Mounds bar they’d shared, a handful of plastic Indians, and his dad’s old baseball cap.  p. 2
